A sign of peace...

Yesterday I had a moment of peace.  And to fully understand, I must start from a few weeks ago...

Since James and I have moved into our new home, we have been seeing roadrunners everywhere.  I look out my window, and Ill see one sitting on a rock.  Look out my backyard and one will be in the yard.  We drive to town, and one darts in front of us.  All of the time.  It became apparent to me that I needed to start paying attention to this, they were trying to tell me something.  I read up in my Animal Speak book about this creature, but was not quite understanding how it could be relevant to my life.  It told me to also study the coocoo bird, which is a close relative, but still did not quite get what I was reading.  Then, on monday (two days ago), I re-read it all on our way into town.  I all of a sudden understood.  It was trying to get my attention about my dad.  It was all about seeing the universe on a deeper level, and to listen to what is not being said.  It also said that it most likely meant a life changing event was about to occur in your household, either a birth or death.  Now sometimes when you read these things before major events happen, its hard to quite comprehend who or what it is talking about, or if it is even real.  But upon looking back, I understood it all.  So now, this all brings us up to date to the events that happened yesterday.

First of all it poured down raining for about 1/2 an hour.  It has not rained here in so long.  I sat in my bay window with bella on my lap and we just watched the rain.  All I could think was that it was my mom weeping down on all of us and the earth.  It was beautiful but sad.  And I think it opened up my sensitivity to the natural world around me.

So then later in the day, I was sitting outside in my backyard, on the phone with my best friend.  I had told her about how Ive been seeing roadrunners everywhere.  As we were talking, I looked over and there was one in my garden, about 15 feet away from me.  I thought wow, that is the closest one has ever gotten, they usually dart away at the first sign of a person being there.  Then, he walked over to the bird bath that was literally 5 feet away from me.  He sat on that bird bath looking at me the whole time I was on the phone.  And I was talking loud and moving around the whole time.  He stayed there even after getting off the phone.  I kind of chuckled and looked at him and asked him if he was my daddy.  It just gave me a warm feeling that nature was speaking to me so loudly, especially by being so out of character for that creature.  He then ran away and hopped the fence and darted through the woods.

Then, a few hours later, James parents came over to our house.  They took us to run our errands and just be with us.  We were sitting at our dining room table and I looked outside the window and my backyard had tons of dragonflies flying around.  It instantly connected with me b/c I saw thousands of dragonflies not long after my mom died.  They have a deep meaning for me.  So I went outside to look at them and feel their presence.  I then realized, they were only in my backyard.  Not in my neighbors yard, not outside my fenced in area, just in my back yard.  I thought it was quite strange, but I just enjoyed seeing them and it felt like my mom was there big time.

Then, I came inside to tell his parents about it, and then I just was looking out the window at them.  Not a minute later, I look to my right and see two doves sitting on my fence together staring at me.  Once I recognized them, the cuddled, then walked along the fence side by side, and then flew off together.  I instantly knew they were telling me that my mom and dad were back together where they belonged and that they were okay.

I know this probably sounds crazy to alot of people, but I was told that if my parents were going to visit me, it would be in a way that I would understand.  And I understand this world best through nature.  I am deeply connected to nature and the things in it, and I truly believe this was God's way of showing me their love.  And for it to happen right here in my new home, makes me feel so warm.  Like they are blanketing our house with their presence and love.  It was truly one of the most amazing experiences Ive ever had.  And although it does not take away the sadness of losing my daddy, it is helping me to understand the process of life and death, and to feel at peace with his soul being reunited with my moms.  Which is all he ever wanted.

This is probably the hardest post ive ever writen.  I have been avoiding getting online this week, but I know I cannot run from it forever.  And if I have ever been anything here online, its been real.  This is life...  I lost my daddy to sadness this week.  I have so many emotions right now that Im sort of blank and numb.  I feel sad, angry, lost, hurt, confused.  A part of me wishes I would have done more, although I know I cannot go there.  My daddy was one of the most quirky one of a kind people I knew.  There is not another one like him.  All he truly wanted to was to love someone and do things for someone and feel truly accepted for who he was.  Since my mom has been gone, he just couldnt fill that hole I think.  Im not really sure, Im left with so many questions.  The only comfort I can find right now is knowing that if he truly was hurting so badly, he is no longer suffering.

I may not be very active online for a while.  Or I may.  I may find that working is one way I can keep my mind off of it.  I guess I will just be taking it one day at a time.  So if you see me all of a sudden posting, its the only way I know to keep going and not just let myself wonder around this house.  I dont want anyone to worry about me.  After making it through losing my mom 3 years ago, I feel like I just know I can do this too.  It hurts so badly, but I know I have been blessed with so many people surrounding me with love.  I have such amazing family and friends and they are all taking such good care of me.  Please just pray for peace.  For everyone who loved him and for his soul.

I have alot of people to respond to, and know that I will as I can.

Little black dress...

After going to bed so late last night, we woke up to Nico chirping in our ears and the sun shining in so bright.  I just knew for sure it must have been about 10 o'clock or so.  Nope, only 8:30.  Geez...  ah well, Im excited to have my boy home with me today, even though I will mostly be working.  I may be putting him to work too :)  See the photo below of him?  Yep, that is him cutting chains for me!  I have conned him into helping me out this week.  Although he does have alternative motives.  He is saving up for something he really wants so Im sharing the profits with him just for his penny jar!  And its been a great help to me, plus I get to enjoy him next to me while I work, double plus!!!

The other day I wore my little black dress I got for my birthday.  I actually havent had a 'little black dress' since I was about 15, mostly b/c I do not buy black anything anymore it seems b/c of our pets.  And of course, within about an hour I was covered in white fur.  But it is still so cute :)  A lint roller is must in this house.  I wore it with on of my crochet vests, a roots and feathers necklace and my thrifted mocs.  such a comfy but cute outfit.  And I painted my nails glittery for the first time ever this week.  Love it.  And, I ate sushi from heb, a quick okay fix for when you want some sushi.

I also redecorated my window space in the dining room.  I love it, and I love the fact that I can change things around anytime.  I had to showcase my neil young album my bestie gave me.  This photo is making me miss my Violet, is that not adorable?  And the photo of Bella, she was just standing there with the sun shining on her and I had to run and grab my phone.  Gosh, Im a bit addicted to phone photos.  I never intended them to take over the way they have, its just so easy to grab my phone.

Today is day 3 of having lactose free creamer in my coffee, and not really having any dairy at all (except for my latte last night).  I think I have an allergy to it.  Im not sure yet if that is it, but something has been upsetting me and Im on the path to resolving it.  So far so good, so it just may be that.  It was the first thing I was going to try to eliminate from my diet to figure out what is going on.  Gosh I love milk though.  Luckily I can still eat yogurt and some cheeses b/c of the probiotics and low levels of lactose in some.  I think Id cry if I had to give up all of my favorites...

Time to force myself to get up, eat, and get busy!  I had a goal of cleaning the floors (deep cleaning) while Violet was gone, but my time is ticking away!

PEACE,
Laura

New Roots and Feathers jewels...

There is a slew of new work in my Roots and Feathers shop, and still more to come, hopefully tomorrow.  Im in love with this last batch.  I decided to group them into categories to showcase them on here.  Although most of the dreamcatcher/mobiles are from the past few weeks, I dont think I ever really featured them on the blog.  Im quite in love with each one, and the fact that each one is one of a kind.

There are lots of new bottled feather necklaces, and more to come.

I pretty much want to keep each of these earrings below..

and some of my favorite necklaces so far.  this line has really just blossomed from within.  i feel so at home with it.

Tomorrow I will be featured on one of my favorite blogs, and I cant wait to share!  Today was mostly just work, although I did squeeze in about half an hour of hooping/dancing to my asian roots music cd.  The best workout b/c it is so fun!  Ive actually sort of given up my real workout all together, its been over 3 months since Ive even touched my workout dvd.  eeek.  Its an ebb and flow kind of thing with me.

James and I are being wild tonite and staying up past midnight since he doesnt work tomorrow.  He even made lattes at 9 pm.

PEACE,
Laura

New bottled up pretties...

Im about to be listing some new pretties in my Roots and Feathers shop.  These are sneak peaks of the finished versions.  I thought they looked so pretty together before adding the rest of the necklace parts.  I added a few new things the other day too.  Its looking mighty nice in the shop!

I had to take miss Violet up to the vet today to spend two nights to do her second part of her treatment.  It was sad dropping her off and we miss her already.  But she is in good hands.  Today has been full of getting things done.  I organized all of my paper work from the last 6 months.  Yep, that's how far behind I was!  Got my desk all cleaned off.  Worked on orders and photographed a bunch of new jewelry.  Now time to edit and list!  I also made a list minute decision to join a super amazing group of girls who are selling their wares at a local shop in New Braunsfels.  You can read Shauna from PPP's post all about it here.  Im so excited to be among them, and now I have my work cut out for me, oh my!  I have just two weeks to get a whole collection made for the shop!

Feeling loved...

Yesterday I founded myself flooded with love from people.  Made me realize that those bad apples that seem to come up in my life from time to time are nothing compared to all of the amazing people I have found in my life, at home and on the internet.  I feel very blessed to have made some of the connections I have in my life.

I received these very good smelling incense from an online friend yesterday.  They smell yummy and she had them packaged up so lovely.  And the words written inside this card I will cherish forever.  Thank you Hillary.

My bestie recently took a two week trip to California and brought me back these rocks and shells from the beach.  I love them.  Reminds me so much of my mom.  And she also scored an amazing collection of vinyls the other day and gave me a few, including my favorite Neil Young album.  I cant wait to get a frame and showcase the inside artwork in my house!

A super sweet girl named Taibi sent me this wonderful little leather pouch that reminded her of me.  I think it is just precious.  And a while back she also sent me the amazing little art piece below.  She is definitely a talented girl.

These were actually birthday gifts from a special friend.  I was pretty overwhelmed with her thoughtfulness in these gifts.  This amazing cookie jar is from the 60's, and no telling how old the singer embroidery is.  I am just enamored with them.  There were also a few other goodies in there.  Thank you Staci, you are indeed a sweetheart.

Thank you girls for your amazing hearts and thoughtfulness.  I feel it.

PEACE,
Laura
