Keepsake Gift Idea

Here is a simple but profound little gift idea...
TRINKETS IN A BOTTLE

I filled up 3 little jelly jars full of tiny trinkets that belonged to my mother.  My mom always stashed little things that she though was special, so I had a drawer full of these little things.  I divided them up into pieces I felt spoke to me about a certain person, and gave them to my Nanna, aunt & uncle for christmas.  They are really just to be kept on a shelf, as a little visual collage of their loved one.  Each one did have a mountain laurel seed, a wine cork, an old dice, a little buddah and a foreign coin, along with other random things of hers.

You can take this idea and turn it into anything keepsake, like for your kids with their little toys, balls or jacks.  Or even a little stash of your own 'precious' things that you would like to pass on to your child one day.  Be creative!

PEACE,
Laura

I want you to know how much I enjoy your postings. I especially liked what you wrote about the holidays and your mom. Your keepsake idea is great- and I will probably use it as I am still going thru my stuff. You are your mother's daughter - beautiful and gracious. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and creativity with us.

  5. My sister made, "memory jars" for my parents this christmas, but we put scraps of paper with drawings, quotes, and memories on them. My parents loved it so much!

  6. LOVE this idea! My mom passed away a few years ago. She loved trinket and left so many behind that I didn't know what to do with. I am going to make a jar for each of her grand daughters. She has 5! Thank you so much for this idea.

PS Glad the jacket was received...take your time! I am sure it will come out great!

  8. Kay, thank you so much, one of the sweetest things you could have said!

Meri, that is awesome! I love that idea too! I bet those are going to be so fun for her to pull out and read!

Teena, yay! So glad you are going to do it. I tried putting everything in the jars so that it looked 'pretty' to sit on a shelf, instead of just dumping things in there. So try it out!

Thank you everyone! It was the best gift I had to give this year.

  9. Beautiful pics as always. Our family has moved around a lot, so we use jars to record memories. My girls love filling them with treasures. It really is an important ritual of ours.x
