Hi Lovelies!
Just wanted to pop in and say hi!
I have spent the entire day cleaning my whole house and baking a mini wedding cake for my Nanna. My grandma (my mom's mom) is getting re-married tomorrow in Bandera. Her and her 'man' have decided to come to the Justice of Peace in Bandera so that James and I could be their witnesses. I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world! And it was Sabe's idea. Then we are going to eat lunch at Jame's (my husband) parents restaurant.
We will have a whole family celebration next month...
I am so happy for my Nanna. My Pap has been gone for over 11 years now, and she really thought she was going to be alone forever. Until, a good friend of theirs also lost his wife...and a few months later was calling my Nanna for friendship. They all met when my Nanna and Pap were about 19 years old I believe. So they have been friends all of thier lives. They used to take thier kids on trips together. So it is really special because my Nanna feels a kinship with him, she feels safe and calm, and they can talk about their pasts with each other, which is comforting after losing your spouse.
So, for the past several months, my Nanna has sworn up and down that she was not going to marry him or anything. He even proposed to her on a cruise ship over seas, and she turned him down! But the longer their courtship has gone on, she has realized that she really loves him and he really loves her. He treats her like a queen, as she looks and acts like she is a teenager again, it is the cutest thing ever. I have never seen her happier actually. The look on her face, the spring in her step, her funny personality is all just radiating. It warms my heart to no end to see her this happy, and for that, I am eternally thankful and grateful for this wonderful man to come into our lives.
So, tomorrow, I have the honor (she picked me out of our whole family) to be the one to stand beside her and give her blessing. I love my Nanna so dearly. I always have and always will. Something about her is just like heaven. She can do or say no wrong. She is graceful, and beautiful and funny and charming, among so many things. And she is probably one of the only people in our family who truely 'gets' my husband, ha ha!
I LOVE YOU NANNA AND SABE!!!

Now I am playing with a few new textures and actions...
This is always inspiring to me.

Laura, Actually my mom and your Nanna met while they were getting pre marital blood tests in 1951. Dad and Ray were roommates in the Air Force together. It was very serendipitous and mom and Marcia shared a special relationship until my mom's death.

It is such a blessing that your grandmother has decided to remarry someone that she's always known and that you and your family know. Love at any age is a beautiful thing I should know I've been married to my best friend for 31 years.
