The Universe Is Infininte - Daily Threads >>>

James surprised me with this dress from Jessalin Beutler that says The Universe Is Infinite on it.  I love almost everything in her shop.  Very simple but striking designs.  Im personally not a huge fan of tank dresses (or tank tops most of the time), but fall is a great time to utilize pieces like this with layers.  I always have to think past just the fact that its a tank something or another... He also surprised me with these amazing teak wood earrings by Christine Domanic.  They were love at first sight and Ive had them on my mental wishlist for a long time now.  I have one sweet hubby!  I also wore my favorite silver knuckle ring and leggings from Forever 21, my moms beaded necklace and her moccasin boots, and a simple black cotton cardigan.  (I cant help but think how cute a baby bump would be under this dress :)
I look like my mom in this photo above.  Something about the face Im making reminds me of her.

We went to our friends house last night to do our christmas with them.  As always it was such a welcoming time and they made dinner for us from scratch!  We got the sweetest gifts and enjoyed being with them.  I even played around on Jonny's new bass guitar.  I had so much fun and I kind of surprised myself.  Now James wants to get me a bass, ha ha!  My mom always told me she could play a ZZTop album on bass, but I never heard her.

See that amazing pea green woven table runner???  Gifted to me by a dear friend who knows my style even more than me it seems!  Love.

The past few days my brain feels like its in a fog.  I know its b/c of all of the junk Ive ingested.  I feel like I need a deep cleanse soon.  James has been feeling the same way.  Goodbye holiday sugar coma!  Im over you.

My dads pottery >>>

Among the many things that my dad was, he was an amazing potter.  He didnt think so, but I love the works he did.  There was just a handful of pieces he had completely finished and glazed, and divided them up amongst a few good friends and family for christmas.  It was hard letting them go, Ill be honest, but Im glad that a little part of him is now in each of their homes.  My dad was the kind of man who got an idea in his head for something and then went full throttle with it.  If he didnt know how to do it, he got books and taught himself.  He got a bit obsessive over things and had to master them.  There is really nothing I can think of that I would put past him to have been able to do.  He just had talent running through his veins it seems.  He always told me things didnt come easily to him, that he had to work at it over and over, but he always figured it out.  I really look up to him in this respect.  Here are just a few of his magnificent pots he threw.

Daddy, I miss talking to you on the phone everyday (or almost everyday)...even on the not so good days (and I know there were lots of them)...I miss your goofy grin you would get when you were up to no good (which was alot)...I miss the way your hands sounded when you rubbed them together b/c they were dry, rough and cracked from a lifetime of woodworking and labor...I miss the way you always smelled like your woodshop (one of the best smells in the world)...I miss hearing you call me kiddo...I miss the way you would make up your own language when you talked to your dog...I miss you dropping by my house randomly... I miss you confiding in me about your dates...I just miss you.  I love you.

PEACE,
Laura

Christmas Moments >>>

These are just some random photos of christmas taken from my phone.  Of course, I brought my real camera and did not use it at all.  All of the pics I took of the family opening gifts and such came out blurry, boo.  And James and I decided to do ours unexpectedly so I didnt take pics like I usually do.  Ah well, I at least enjoyed the moment!  Bella of course joined us in the unwrapping :)  And I always love James little notes he puts on my packages, so adorable.

These below were all at my Nanna's house, where we gather every year as a family.  The only two people I got clear pics of were my cousin Emily and my nephew Aiden, being silly sitting in a plastic bucket.  He had more fun with the empty bucket then he did the lincoln logs inside the bucket!  So so precious.

My sweet nephew Aiden was the biggest highlight of my christmas.  I love him so much.

 PEACE,
 Laura

Christmas Threads >>>

My christmas threads... Ill be back later with actual christmas goodness!  It was a beautiful day.  I wore my daddy's Jimi Hendrix tee that I revamped.  And I wore my double bird ring and double bird necklace from That Vintage since they remind me of my folks.  I also got to break in my new favorite Blowfish shoes.  To die for.  Seriously.  James got me a few things off my etsy wishlist, so I wore my new sparkly Flourish bracelet and my new Amerrymishap ring.  Im completely in love with both.  Along side my favorite Moorea Seal bracelet.

More to come... and in the two days there will be a giveaway marathon!!

PEACE,
Laura

Pieces of Home >>>

My sweet boy got me an ipod for christmas. This is my first apple product. Im a bit behind the times, as always.  So Im having so much fun with the hipstomatic camera and instagram.  Ive been wanting to use them for a looooonnnnngggg time now!  We cant afford iphones yet, so this was the next best thing.  It does just about everything an iphone would except make calls!  Im excited to use it as my music player when I go back to work.  And I actually downloaded my facebook and twitter to it, so Ive hardly been on the computer the past few days, except to post a blog.  Although Im still engaging alot in the online world, at least Im not sitting at my computer desk, big step!  Im kind of wanting to ween myself off of it all a bit.  Anywho, Im super duper excited about it and having fun with the photos!

new moon candle lighting, visioning the days ahead with a warm welcome.

Today is christmas eve.  I will spend my day baking for loved ones, and later spending time with loved ones.  I plan to keep my house calm, with relaxing music and warmth from the oven.  It rained last night so our firewood is to damp to build a fire.  I think Im a bit addicted to fire now.  And I cant wait to spend time with my family tomorrow.  I sure will be missing my daddy.  Although he hated christmas and didnt even come last year, so it wont be my first year without him around.  But it sure will be different this year.  I love you mom and dad!!!

Blue Velvet + Chevron Stripes >>>

The day before yesterday was an elaborately set up plan to get our friend Jonny into a music store to pick out a guitar.  We have been planning this for a long long time.  James really feels like he owes it to him for getting him back into his passions of playing guitar more, so this was his way of thanking him.  So we, and Jonny's sister and friend all went in together to make this dream come true.  We told him we were taking him out for pizza and had a few errands to run, including picking up some strings at the guitar store.  The traffic was so crazy b/c of christmas, it ended up being an alllll day affair, but so worth it!  He went home with a lovely acoustic bass guitar!  We LOVE you Jonny!  I cant wait for the boys to jam in James new band room!!!

And you know me, all crazy about my threads, I got to wear my blue velvet pants from Threadsence!  So in love.  I used to have a pair of blue velvet bell bottoms in high school but they got trashed, so these are like part nostalgic for me, but in a more modern cut.  And... I totally forgot that you can fold your Blowfish boots down!!!  So I wore them as tennies.  My favorite Skyline Fever tank paired with a chevron striped tunic from Ross.  And as always topped off with my Moorea Seal and Flourish bracelets.

Today I baked about 6 dozen cookies, and prepped for more tomorrow.  I also built my first fire by myself and kept it going almost all day long.  Tomorrow will be equally filled with baking and visiting with James family.  Is tomorrow really christmas eve?  My vacation is officially half over and I have a feeling its going to go by fast with so much going on...

PEACE,
Laura
